What is the minimum order quantity for steel and metal products?
Minimums vary by category: flat-rolled steel and long products ~800–1,000 MT; structural profiles and hollow sections 500 MT; ferro alloys 100 MT per grade; DRI/HBI minimum 5,000 MT (typical 10,000–30,000 MT); non-ferrous 20–50 MT. All minimums are indicative — contact us for confirmation.
Can Atabaş Group supply EN 10204 3.2 third-party countersigned certificates?
Yes. EN 10204 3.1 (mill-issued) is standard on all supply. EN 10204 3.2 countersigned by SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, TÜV or Lloyd's is available on request — standard for pressure vessel plate, shipbuilding steel and projects with Owner's Engineer oversight.
What is HBI and why do steel mills prefer it over scrap?
Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI) contains 90–94% total iron with very low residual elements (Cu, Sn, Ni, Cr). This chemical cleanliness makes HBI the preferred EAF charge material for automotive steels, cold-rolled coil and pipe grades — where scrap residuals cause contamination. HBI is also safe for ocean bulk shipping. Active supply programs from Oman, Libya and Venezuela.
What is the difference between PPGI and PPGL (Galvalume)?
PPGI uses a pure zinc substrate (Z100–Z275 g/m²). PPGL uses an aluminium-zinc alloy substrate (55% Al / 43.5% Zn / 1.5% Si, AZ150 g/m²), providing superior corrosion resistance in marine and industrial environments. PPGL is specified for coastal roofing and 30+ year warranty projects. PPGI is more economical for mild environments.
Which plate grades are specified for oil and gas storage tanks?
API 650 tanks commonly use ASTM A516 Gr.60/70 (shell and bottom), ASTM A36 (general up to 40 mm) and A537 Class 1/2 (low-temperature). EN equivalents: P265GH/P355GH (EN 10028-2) for elevated temperature; P275NL1/NL2 for sub-zero service. All supplied with EN 10204 3.1 and UT certification on request.
